Augmented Reality (AR) in which virtual content is incorporated with real-world scenarios, is an emerging trend in the field of workplace learning and development. It is a way of bridging the gap between real and digital world by superimposing virtual images with the information of real world. With the use of smartphones, tablets and other personalized devices, an immense potential of AR has started to be explored.
AR displays virtual images by accessing smartphones’ features such as camera, GPS, display and sensors. From image recognition and location-based apps to 3D gaming apps, AR is widely implemented to deliver a seamless user experience.
Augmented Reality- A Future Battleground
AR defines the use of latest technology that creates a computer-generated image in the real-world environment. Firstly, real workplace scenario is created and then elements are augmented through sensory inputs such as audio, video or graphics. This leads to enhanced learning experience as compared to virtual world scenarios which replaces the actual world with a simulated one. Today, most of the organizations are choosing new workplace learning strategies to stay on top of the charts. Let us discuss a few reasons why AR is considered as the next emerging wave to effectively train new-age workforce:
AR implementation across social media platforms

Marketing companies are tapping for plethora of opportunities that AR offers to improve client collaboration. For instance, using AR, 3D advertisements are created where audience not only see, but feel the ads around them, giving an immersive experience.
AR in latest mobile apps
With technological advancement, the trend of using latest apps on your personalized mobile devices is also increasing. Software developers are working towards developing engaging gaming apps based on the concept of AR. Few apps that are popular today include:
- Pokémon Go – It is among the most popular AR apps ever used since launch. It uses GPS feature to locate you in gaming avatar, while using camera to show Pokémon in reality.
- Ink Hunter – This AR app provides different tattoo designs and on which part of body they can go with. Users can virtually try out different designs in the app as per their individual choices.
More number of tech-savvy users
Today, majority of users are leveraging AR technology in their corporate training programs. Statistics show there will be an increasing scope of AR among different industries.
